Pottery has a large historical tradition in our region.A large part of its production has or had it’s origin in the natural surroundings around us. The richness in water and the abundance of clay found near the rivers motivated the profileration of pottery work shops from neolitic to modern times in the Guadalhorce valley.

The pottery tradition has been maintained until nowadays with numerous nationally renowned artists in our region. The “know how” of the artists has motivatedidentification, including that of pottery, with its place of origin, which is the case with Coín, where the “cumbreras” were able to produce a colour known as “Coin green”. May this just be an example for the large number of artists who have defined a style which identifies their work.

So we are a forum of people implicated in the sector, designing strategies of formation, promotion and marketing of the products, as a way to find joint rentability and recognition of the profession. As pottery is one of our major distinguishing marks of cultural identity, the Group for Rural Development of the Guadalhorce Valley (GDR) supports us so that this forum may constitute a real impulse in the sector.
